I have one of mine on NAF gastri aid but it works out rather expensive per month for long term use.

Can anyone suggest something else?

I have tried:

Protexin gut balancer
Brewers yeast
NAF pink powder

None of the above made any difference but NAF gastri aid is helping.

He's on it purely due to having rather loose poos, which cant be enjoyable for him. He's a stressy type so its naturally worse if we are out and about. He shows no signs of ulcers or anything that sinister i just want something to help boost his gut and get more out of his feed. He has been wormed etc but did have quite a wormy belly when he arrived with me at the end of sept. He's fed a fibre based diet, i dont feed cerals or anything molasses based and hes on hay not hayledge!

any ideas??

was wondering about comfort gut too? is it good?
didn't realise that about the absorbtion - would be interesting to know if it affects other supps?

Comfort Gut works really well for this, but it does affect absorption of other things. You have to stop feeding it a day or two before worming and leave it another day afterwards before restarting.

Nettex Gut Balancer, it really works on my tb mare who can be stressy and hot headed. Been using it 10 months and the difference was almost instant

Plenty of hay!

short of forcing it down his throat there isnt much i can do. He barely eats 1 section in a night, he is turned out 12 hrs a day with grass and theres hay in his field. He just isnt that interested in it!

Try fenugreek - improved my fusspots capability to eat and also helps digestion, mint and yea sacc can also help too esp if they have a loose bottom :)
