Well I am at uni, just doing my dissertation then I was going to plan to start looking for a horse around Easter.

I've been looking after horses and riding for just over 10 years. Ridden a lot of difficult horses, shared many horses and loaned a few...so I have had lots of time and experiences to work out exactly what kind of horse I want....which is good in one way...however It does mean I have VERY specific requirements

Basically I want a horse to hack, hunt, local competitions, lots of fun rides and beach rides

i don't mind a bit of a project, the only thing I have to have is a horse that likes jumping (lost some confidence but it does come back easily when I have a horse that won't refuse or cat leap all the time!), and must be good to hack.

Well I found this horse and he is exactly what I want

But it is too soon and I am gutted

Do you think it's too cheeky to ring and get her to keep him a few more weeks

(only joking)

I have a budjet of £3000 - £3500...preferably spending less the better! Otherwise may have to wangle tack etc as a graduation prezzie from dad

Do you think I am a bit optimistic with what I can get for my budget...I keep seeing these kind of horses go for a reasonable price sometimes...but a bit few and far between, and quickly snapped up!

Damn university!

If you really think he is then horse for you the give them a ring, a few weeks is not long in the scheme of things

Why is it too early? Is it just the lack of time now? Is the money avalible now?

If the money's ready you could always go and see him (would take one day!) and if he is perfect, pay for him but ask the seller to keep him a month. Or buy him with tack for #3500 and use the money that would have gone on tack to send him for some training, or just full livery.

Complete lack of time...this dissertation is taking over my life I'm afraid, and I also work 2 part time jobs in between...but in a few more weeks I will be free! (until I have to sort out what I'm going to do with the rest of my life!!!!)

No way I could afford training livery or full livery! I am but a student after all!

I think I may just wait and keep daydreaming...I am a bit of a sucker for a pretty mare anyway tbh! Just gutted now the weather is getting nicer....all my friends are out hacking and fun rides etc...and I'm stuck in my room working! One day....sigh

You'll find one. Would love to know who that horse is by, looks similar to my own. I brought my 5yo coloured ISH mare 3 weeks ago, within your budget. (pic in my sig) If you're after a coloured, they get snapped up incredibly quick at that price, I put a deposit on mine less that 24 hours after she was advertised, and there were already a lot of others interested.

Having got her home, she's not without her issues

But hopefully she'll come good in the end.

Think of it as fate, your dream horse is out there, and will be there for you when the time comes

This one just wasn't meant to be.

You could always put down a substantial deposit; if i was selling, i would be happy to wait for a good home. However, I agree the horse looks lovely but often they are very different when you actually see them and there is no guarantee you would like him anyway. Good luck, hope you do find your dream horse
