As some of you know I have a mare with sacroiliac dysfunction, she is undergoing treatment at the mo but is touch and go whether she is going to ever come back into work.
I was offered a horse that I had know for a while from a friend. He is a 9yo but unbacked due to being used as a stud horse. The stud she brought him from lost their sponsor (or so they said) and had to sell all their horses. After reading a post on here lately I fund out this is not strictly true and some people have had awful experiences with them and most of the horses being in poor condition. I never had this problem as my horse has always been fine??
Anyway he started broncing after a few times of me being on him so called the Physio for a check up. What I found out has really upset me!!!
She said she thinks he has already had problems with his back as she can feel scar tissue from injections and the hair has grown back slightly different from where he was shaved. She said he has the muscle tonne of a horse that has been ridden professionally and he has also been strapped where they have tied his head to his chest and left him in the stable. She said he is very tight all over and in pain and he certainly was not happy about being treated.
She is hoping that the problem was sorted with the injections and now it's just a case of working him long and low and getting him to relax but as we all know, fixing other peoples problems is easier said than done!!
She also said he has been really ruined somewhere down the line but the studs website claims all these horses are unspoilt.
I'm so worried now I have another horse with back issues that is potentially unriddable.
He was meant to be my fun horse so I could start enjoying riding again after a stressful 3 years and now I don't know what to do???
Sorry I just needed to vent as I'm really upset right now for him and the horror he has experienced and for me as I really wanted to have fun again
