Gutted... what next? Self pitying post.

sounds like a good plan but although lots of people are happy to take all 4 shoes off in one go and let them be sore all round i would take backs off first and give her a couple of weeks for them to harden up and then the fronts....hope all goes well for her....

Glad you have a plan now but just wanted to add, if she is a diamond to hack and has a nice nature , she would be the type of horse a lot of people are after I would think, myself included. Not everyone wants to ride in circles, jump fences or charge around and as long as she could be kept comfortable enough to hack quietly and managed so she is happy, then a good hacking home should be out there for her.

That sounds like a plan! You might find that magnetic leg wraps help to control pain. They worked incredibly well for one of mine but haven't been nearly so effective for others that we've tried them on.

Sounds like a plan.
Friend's old horse (and he's pretty ancient now) had arthritis and tendon issues all round. Shoes came off about three years ago and he has never been lame since so there is some hope. She hacks him barefoot on the roads and he wears boots all round for more challenging terrain and copes brilliantly!

Occasionally he will refuse to come in out of the field over the hardcore in the gateway but, through trial and error, she has discovered that is more a dislike of the thought of work - if there's a feed the other side of the gate, he marches through without even thinking about it and certainly with no sign of any discomfort!
