Well went to look at another yard today as I have been wanting to move from my place for a while now really...the riding was great with bridleways everywhere, the field was completely isolated and away from everything which was great, but I was really disappointed with the yard itself. Although there are only three other people there the barn was half falling down, the stables seemed to have holes in them or were too open with the wind blowing through them and the field was so bare with no trees for protection. The horses themselves had ripped rugs from the bared wire and although didnt look unhealthy certainly didnt seem to be bothered with...it also seemed an ideal location for stealing horses as it was so out of the way...
I was also told that the farmer was intending to have two more horses in the field later next year which meant I would limited to one stable for my two horses!! so one would be left in the field over night....the yard itself was pretty ropey and although im not snobby about things like that it made me realise just how well I look after my horses and what I have at the moment isnt actually that bad....the field and stables were also rented by the farmer and there was talk about building which made me worry too...
It worked out quite a bit more expensive then I was orginally told and the hay and straw was left in an open section where the wind and rain could get to it...
So ive decided to stay put...solo is best for me I think....!! Im too indivdual im afraid and like doing my own thing far too much....im going to paint my stable and make it tider and also sort out getting some extra grazing land for the summer so my smaller field can have a rest....
Bit disappointed but at least I know what I have is actually pretty cool and just down the road from me too :0)
