Went to vets yesterday afternoon, and horses leg is as i suspected worse than the origional vets found.

He has a big hole in his chesck ligament. This is the best of the structures to damage, but what he's done to the chesk is the worse he could of! They have injected the hole to help new growth and reduce inflamation. 10 days box rest, then only if he's saine (which i dont think i'll chance) he can be walked out. Then back to vets in a month.

He is loving his bright pink bandage tho!! They said at best he might be back doing some kind of work in 3 months or could be up to 9 months. I know its not as bad as it could be but he's my best horse, and we lost last year thorugh injury aswel. Just typical that you just get going again and something else happens!!

I was abit upset last night, cant help thinking i should have done something to prevent it/ or gone to these vets in the first place. Oh i dont know its all if's and but's but sh*t happens i suppose.

Anyone else had any similar injuries? (i mean your horse!)

Sorry to hear about your horse. Friend's horse has recently suffered check ligament damage but after 3 months box rest (with in hand walking) her scan came back clear and she has now resumed normal work. Hope everything goes well for your horse.

Know how you feel. We had my young horse diagnosed with coffin joint problems plus high suspensory we battled for a year but no improvment so he was retired. Then our good horse went lame with spavin and he has been out for 11 months and just back in work - sound!!! So hang in there, they are great levellers horses we just dont know what is round the corner. Keep your chin up.

Know exactly what you're going through at the moment ! My best horse was off a lot of last summer with viruses and hard ground problems, then just got him back into work and he did his check ligament. He missed another 3 months, and then just after getting back in the ring has gone and got himself kicked and is still out of action today

On a positive note though, the Check Ligament is as you say, the least important bit of anatomy in that region....and my trainer actually said they can remove it completely if needs be and the horse would be unaffected

Thanks for you kind and encouraging words! Was crying on way home from vets, so rang OH for hoping for something nice to say, but all i got was your horses are more out of action than they are in action!- he doesnt like horses, so that made me worse!- dont worry i made my feelings clear and he has said sorry!

I just hope after this he says in working order!!lol!

Positive Vibes coming your way! Its nothing to do with being your fault dont even think it! It always happens in the horse! Wouldnt it be so much better if they could actually talk and tell you what is wrong with them! Big hugs too!
