Just when I finally get a horse I am really having fun on

I have to have more major surgery in my ankle. Seems my foot underneath my ankle replacement is collapsing and the spacer inbetween the joint is what I can feel moving around (painful)

I'm absolutely gutted. This is exactly what happened 4 years ago when I bought my lovely Micah. Then I got mended and he broke. Then of course I lost him

The last 12 years have been like this. I only managed one summer where both me and horse were fit together. With my ill health and age I feel my active horsey life going completely down the pan

I'm just so worried history will keep repeating itself and my lovely new horse will break about 3 months after I'm back in the saddle
:(:(:(

And deep breath!

Ok well it sounds like you cant keep yourself riding in the current situation so this needs to be done.

Secondly- its nasty horibble yukky winter, not lovely summer that you are missing. (sounds good to me!)

Sounds like your going to be off for a while, what are you going to do with said horsey in the meantime? Is a sharer an option? Least that would keep horsey in work and quietly ticking along?

Ah sorry to read this. Stay positive, I know it's hard - I had the same with my mare - she had 2 eye operations, then I had heart surgery, then I broke a finger then she had a respiratory problem and then 2 years ago I sadly lost her with stress laminitis 5 years after getting her. It seemed a doomed partnership which never had a chance. I need surgery again, but I just try to stay positive. Never worry about things you cannot influence.

Been there, done it, got the Tshirt. Had 27 reconstructive surgeries on my left leg. Two years in a wheel chair, 7 on crutches. Body rejects metalwork and insufficient bone left to attach an ankle replacement to, so ended up with a fusion. If you want to chat, or a friendly ear then pm me. Had a fabulous surgeon called Mr Sunil Dhar from Queens Med at Nottingham. He's one of the leading surgeons in this field. Cant sing his praises highly enough since I went to him asking to take my leg off after all other avenues had failed.

That's very kind. Thank you. From what surgeon said he has to rebuild my foot underneath the ankle joint as that's where it is collapsing. Surgeon is great. He said I would be none weight bearing. I laughed and told him no way can that happen. I live alone! He was great and said he would sort it by plating it as well

That's such good advice thank you.

I have found someone to look after pony although obviously I have to pay. But at least she will be looked after

And think positive, things will sort themselves out, your ankle will get fixed and your lovely pony is what will keep you going, just cause you maybe not able to ride don't mean you can't go and see and instruct.

I saw him for a second opinion regarding whether I was having fusion or replacement and found him very good - ended up with fusion as both he and my other surgeon (who wanted the second opinion) felt I'm too young and active for a replacement to last :-(

to op - you will get there, I've had my girl 5 years and we've had maybe 6 months - 1 year of solid riding in that time between letting her finish growing, my surgeries and then her being lame and havign a significant length of time out. We;re now starting to come back into work :D

Blimey that's annoying. I'm on my 3rd horse now too. So if it doesn't work out this time I think I will give up
Have pm'd you.
