Thought I'd found the perfect pony - Welsh sec D gelding.

Went to see him a week ago and he was really well behaved and resonably schooled so I decided he was the one.

Arranged for a 5* vetting, but unfortunately couldn't be there for it and the vet told me that he did a big buck out of the blue and the rider fell off. The vet said that she thought he had been stung as he had been working nicely up until then. (He passed the vetting)

I decided to go and ride him again today, just to make sure the bucking wasn't going to be a regular thing. He was happy for me to tack him up, but as soon as I put my foot in the stirrup and jumped up to get on he went into rodeo mode and chucked me off.

So I won't be buying him and am £250 poorer

Sorry for the rant, but just need to let it out!

Better you found out now I suppose.
$250 is nothing compared to a broken YOU if it happened to a higer degree!

We all gamble in the horse world!

The first time you rode him he did well you say? Were you using his regular tack and was he is his normal setting the second time? Just curious as to any explaination as to why

Sorry to hear that, hope ure not too sore! although it sounds as though youve been lucky finding out before you took him home.

Even though its a hassle sometimes it pays to be patient and try them a few times so you can assess them on different days/times/weather conditions. You cant be too careful!

Best of luck finding another one

Jade - Very true, I could have found what he was like after I'd bought him.
The first time I rode him he didn't put a foot wrong. Same setting, tack, everything. I'm racking my brain and the only thing I can think of was that he didn't like the rain, although it was only raining a little.

St Bernard- The vet thought he may have been stung, or put his foot down a hole in the field. She couldn't find anything medically wrong and said he had a great back.

I hope the perfect pony turns up soon as I am starting to lose my confidence.
