So I had posted earlier last week about letting Mini Me do Jump x 60 to 70's and it didnt go to plan at all.

Mini Me gave me a lovely wake up call just after 5 am!!!! Just incase I didnt wake up, good thing she did as jeep battery was flat so had to get a grumpy oh out of bed at 6.30 to give us a jump start lol...... so up at yard early, Mini Me was great, gave pony her breakfast & got hose & grooming kit ready - she was super super excited...

Mini Me they worked on getting pony cleaned up ( lives out ) and did a fantastic job by herself...
All good, she even loaded pony by herself & I started thinking it was a fab start to what potentially was going to be a great day.

Pony warmed up absoloutly fantastic & Mini me was on fire, bags of confidence and egar to get cracking....

Fences were up to height but as agreed with venue dropped back bars on a couple so they werent over phased.... Pony was having none of it... there was a life sized cow in the arena and ducks in water tray which is what Mini me's Pony looked at & put in couple of very dirty stops. Mini Me has never cried after falling off but today she cried buckets...... after first fall she was ok with a bit of encouragment & rode the pony on but to be fair to mini me pony then saw the ducks half a stride out from where she was to jump and dumped Mini me again:(

My heart broke ..... literally. Mini Me has only just turned 7 and today was meant to be a total fun experience.

Dont know how somewhere can advertise a competition as suitable for novice riders & green horses & have so many spooky elements..

So back to yard & mini me rather deflated so offered her a ride on my spooky looky connie ( he had had an full hours exerciese ) ...as a reward for being so brave...... video below.. OMG - the spook monster turned into the kid friendly plod lol, he really showed me today why he is worth his weight in gold mini me's future 148 star:)

Smashing little rider you've got there! I'm sure we've all been there with the spooky jumps, I've managed to stop at every jump in a clear round so she could check it out for monsters before catleaping it. I was eligible for a clear rosette though it wasn't quite the round I was expecting.
 
Oh dear, poor little one. She'll be right as rain soon enough, it's all experience - bad days are what make the great days so special. Maybe take a step back with her again to build confidence and then have another go in a few weeks/months once she's got some good days under her belt. :)

Oh bless her, I really feel for her! What a little sweetheart, and how fab that she got her pony ready herself etc. (so many kids seem to think parents = grooms!) so what a shame it didn't go to plan.

But, you two could have lots of fun together painting cardboard boxes or wood (or whatever you can get hold of!) to make ducks/sheep/dragons etc. to put in the arena with him? Maybe make some Christmas trees and Rudolphs etc.?!


Your Connie looks fab - she rides him really well and he looks to be a lovely little horse.
 
Only twice in the same day? Tell her she comes no where close to how many times I used to get ditched off mine as a 7yo, therefore she's is an awesome little jockey. :)
 
Awwwwww bless her but knowing your lovely little mini me she will bounce back. as some one as said turn situation around and get her making spooky cardboard animals etc. Set her a fun task to get pony not bothered about such things :) on wards and upwards little mini me :)
 
I love your "Mini Me" posts....your daughter is such a sweetheart bless her. Sorry it didnt go too well but she is an awesome little rider ♥♥♥ She looks very comfy on Marley there....reckon you might lose your pony before you know it ;)
 
Aww, Love her. We've had similar a few times recently. My daughter has started dressage and a few outings the horse has just spooked wildly at everything and anything and totally ignored my daughter.
Its so sad for them when things go badly BUT it does make the next time, the time they get placed all the more exciting.
 
Ok De spooking week ahead. Mini me is going to get busy with cutouts to put on jump wings, was thinking also to put in arena umbrellas, balloons, ducks in water tray, flouresent jackets on jumps.... Anything else anyone would recommend?

Aww bless her! I also used to use tablecloths... You can buy delightfully flappy plastic ones from eBay (about £1) with garish and bright TV characters on them - we had Tweenies, Noddy, some big colourful bear thing... Just whatever was cheapest and brightest. Fab banners around the side of the arena as they're so much brighter than any adverts you'll ever come across in a competition arena, decorations for jump wings or fillers for the super brave. And they're waterproof.

I hope you two have fun this week - pictures of your creations would be fab :)

Doesn't really sound super spooky IMHO. They have to start somewhere with 'spooky' objects.
I would say if they are happy jumping that height some spooky objects should not be a problem otherwise there are not yet ready for that height!
 
Sorry?? Some horses didn't Even make it through the startline due the lifesize Shiny cow. unfortunately Kikk. When you are 7 yrs old you dont have the leg length to wrap around your pony.

Aw she looks and sounds like a cracking little rider. Well you know what to get as stocking fillas - some huge plastic poundland plastic ducks. It does sound rather over the top having a life size cow in a novice arena.
 
We are going to put in lots of spooky things in the arena so hopefully pony will have been exposed to lots of pony eating objects :) that she wont bat an eyelid when out & about

Cow caused HUGE problems - with all levels of horse & rider as was so close to lots of the jumps.
