Guy needs fashion advice. Breeches for lessons?

I have a couple of pairs of Rugged Breaches, (mushrom and dark blue) very comfy and were longer than my original pair that felt too short. Not sure of the material, but are quite stretchy with a full seat.

I ride with short boots and boot length chaps.

My OH rides in breeches as he finds jeans v uncomfotable. He wears Derby house breeches (pleated at the front, much more flattering than the jods he used to have!) in a mid grey colour with short black jod boots and chaps.

Good luck with your search!

You can't really go wrong with the Mark Todd breeches, i wouldn't wear anything else.
Also i used to use short boots and half chaps but find full length boots much more confortable.

The mountain horse high rider II boots are the ones my OH wears for everyday riding (he has some posh boots with garter straps for showing and dressage. They are very hard wearing, comfy, and practical whilst still being smart. Lots of men have them. The only downside is the chunky sole means that you need "man size" stirrup irons, easy if you have your own horse but you need to be a bit wary if you ride other peoples, you don't want to get your foot stuck. Also they don't do an extra long leg, the leg length is dependant upon the shoe size, so if your feet aren't particularly large you may find them a bit short.

The mountain horse sportive is worth checking out, it has a slimmer foot and a slightly longer leg. Also hard wearing comfy and practical.

depending on your budget, the kingsland mens breeches fit really nice (not full seat though)
I also have Mark Todd, Rugged and Derby House breeches with Black De Niro boots (and don't mind being in public wearing them - but used to being seen on cycling gear so these are positively decent)

In order of preference i would say
Kingsland
Rugged
Todds
Derby House

Breeches are far better than jods. Find some mark todd ones, and the sizes are genuine too. I've found the mountain horse boots are bulky and the calf sizes don't go small enough for narrow legs.

OK - got some boots. They had a few, but the Mountain Horse Sportive High R II were the ones I liked best. Actually these fitted my calf better than some others which were a bit baggy, and I preferred the style to some of the more formal shiny ones!

No jodhpurs or breeches in my size/colour though. Looks like the internet for ordering those...

Here's a picture of my new boots but with jeans.

Going riding in half an hour so want to wear them... :D

Well wore my new boots for the first time and I'm really pleased. Felt very comfy - just a little tightness at the ankle, but I'd assume that will soften up as they wear in.

I also got to ride one of our yard's lovely new horses, and she was really responding to everything straight away (maybe it was my new boots she liked ), and we worked really well over the jumps we were doing, so overall really happy! :D :D

Poor bloke getting jumped on haha. How come no girly posts for breeches get this many pages lol!

But, good choice of boots! I adored my mountain horse boots I had, had them about a year and a half. Lived in them practically. Only thing to watch for is def keep them oiled and supple like they suggest doing! I didn't and paid the price with them cracking in the end across the bendy bit lol. [And don't be afraid to use the warantee if the zip breaks! Don't know if it's a common thing or not, or just my pair, but my zipper broke twice on them. I loved them that much I didn't care and mum could fix it fine as she's a dab hand with stuff like that]

Ditto the Mark Todd reccomendation for breeches back to the original subject.

Thanks - yep I'm back to some online browsing for the breeches... Nowhere round here carries any mens stock (well the odd few there were weren't my size and were really light coloured, which I don't really want!)
