Guy William's Titus sold

Its very sad that top british horses are being sold but on a positive note; the fact that top international riders are trying to buy our top showjumping and dressage horses has got to be a good thing surely, I mean GB is obviously at the top of its game and doing something right when it comes to owning, riding, and breeding the best horses around!

Of the three horses sold recently in SJ'ing, one was only an outside chance of being selected for the Olympics and the other two riders have very capable replacements anyway. I don't think we need to be despairing too much just yet.

On a positive note, think of the extra millions that should find their way into British Showjumping going forward :-)

That's the way I look at it too but just a shame they didn't have more patriotic owners in the first place although I'm not sure how strong I'd be to be able to refuse such high offers so I don't really blame them at all; after all, knowing horses and their propensity for self harm the poor horse could even be a carcass before then and they would have lost everything for the sake of patriotic pride if they hadn't sold; could you afford to do that? With so few on 'the team' was there any guarantee that the horses sold would have been on it anyway?
I just hope none of those sold now do us out of any medals.

Patriotic to who though....many of Guys horses are owned by a Belgian stud I believe....

Come on face it. These people are in it for the money, as most of the riders make their living this way and if they bring a horse to the top and get made a great offer,of cause they will sell, thats how they make their reputations on a couple of really good horses, so the rest they may sell on that aren't so good still make good money, what has GB got to do with it,they are business people after all.

For the record Sultan has not been sold - he was already owned (and bred I believe) by a Saudi and he will now be ridden for their own country not GB. I guess we would be pleased if any british owner moved their horse to a british rider for the Olympics!

What does GB or the BSJA do for owners? If you get a good good offer you sell, if I had a top class horse I would not allow it to go to the Olympics as the courses are over sized and it takes a long time for horses to come back to there previous form afterwards ,maybe not so much with London as there is no traverling to the other side of the world but in previous years, the horses came back well below there former selfs.
Robert may well get another ride before London, as if the horse is already registerd in the UK it can change riders right up to the games.
