Hey,
Does anyone use the interlocking gyms mats instead of stable mats? They’re cheaper but can be the same thickness as as the more expensive stable mats! My horse doesn’t spend much time in her stable as she just has free access to it and is rarely shut in.. but I’d still like it to be a warm, comfortable place for her.
TIA

I would be careful what you buy, I bought some that were advertised as either gym or stable. They were completely unsuitable. My shod horse ripped them quite badly very quickly. They were also more porous than normal mats so held the wee and associated smell worse than others.

I did it the other way around, bought stable mats for use in a gym, has worked well only pain was having to shave the bottom of the door to cope with the thickness....I doubt that gym mats would cope with the compression between concrete and a steel shoe without ripping easily

Interesting because my neighbor asked me about where to get stall mats for his home gym because they are often cheaper and/or more durable (he apparently throws weights around, so this is important).

Most of the floor in my gym is rubber, its fine for dropping weights on, but for a shod horse and moisture, I'm not so sure.
