Gymkhana Equipment

I am looking to purchase some cheap gymkhana kit, just the basics such as bending poles, batons and flags etc. Just wondering if anyone has any experience in the area as to where the best place to get them from is? At the moment looks like Robinsons is cheapest but still going to be pretty expensive to set it all up from scratch!

Our RC has bought most of our stuff from Robinsons, they are hard wearing and light, which is important if you are lugging them about. Some things can be improvised, but the Robinsons stuff is good quality and safe

We use Signam at Warwick, they stock all the Pony club equipment.

We use Robinsons too, but improvise a bit - we use electric fence posts for bending posts, and cut the end off washing up bottles (round ones) to use as mugs for moving from post to post... Flags and stepping stones came from Robinsons. One of last year's team games was the shopping race, which required a grooming tray as a shopping basket and then various items such as potatoes and sausages made out of tights! Road cones also come in handy - balance a tennis ball on it, and get them to move it to the next one, or drop it in a bucket...

yes robinsons or signum best bets for official stuff but most can be made yourself. i have wooden batons made from spare broom handle, cups cheaper from camping shop, roadcones really cheap and the taller ones with more broomhandles stuck in top make good safe bending poles. i think electric fence poles bit dodgy for bending. all bottles,socks,sacks etc made up from household stuff rather than buying real thing.spent time searching supermarkets for correct sized bottles last year in order to either cut up for carton or litter race or fill with sand for bottle race. ended up decanting cheap shampoo and cleaners into other pots but ended up with cheap equipment for games!

have also found stuff on ebay ~~~quoits were fraction of price purchased as school sport equip rather than pony games. also dog toys~~~plastic sausages got for £1 each ebay for farmers market.

the only thing i have failed on slightly are the official ponyclub barrels~~although i have used allsorts of cheaper alternatives do not find anything as sturdy (unless you sit on them!) or quite the same to ride round and pickup accurately.
