One of our newbies, (belongs to my little cousin) has a Gypsy Cob Society Passport, it's an absolutely awful, fake looking passport. I know it needs to be sent to the Lippizaner Society who have taken over GCS.. Ad the Lippizaner passports 'professional' looking?
 
Thank goodness for that! Thank you.. Couldn't believe the state of the GCS passport he came with.. Do you know if they issued passports for just cobs or for any breed? We don't know what his breeding is, passport says unknown then is crossed out & sec d is handwritten Next to it.. Looks so professional lol
 
Oooh that's interesting.. When he came a relative that breeds hackneys, thought he looked like a hackney, when I tried him out I thought he moved like a trotter, someone has said they think he looks part welsh (not sure I can see it myself). His back legs are set wide apart, & I used to have a trotter on loan & he had similar back legs..

Tell me about it! Could have made if myself. It has no record of a microchip, so not sure if he as one.. Will have to get him scanned.
 
I laughed when I was handed my boys passport too! I'm sure it had been done on a home printer and they couldn't even fold the pages right, they were all wonky!

I was reluctant to send it off to the lippanzer society as I thought it was also ridiculous that they took them over, but I wa impressed with what came back, I really like it :)
 
Just bumping this to ask those who have sent their Gypsy Cob society passports to the Lippizaner folks for updating, how long did it take to get it back?

I sent mine well over a month ago now, probably 6wks, the cheque came out of my account not long after I sent it, but I still haven't had it back. Just wondering if I should be concerned...

6 weeks sounds like an awful long time. I've not had a GCS passport, but I've never waited more than a week for a passport back. In fact, with AHS, I sent it off on a Thurs afternoon and had it back by Sat morn...
 
I got mine back from them in approx 2 wks.
It's fine odd looking cos its lipizzaner passport with 3 photos of my horse glued in it & over-stamped. But its also got the whole gypsy cob passport in middle of lipizzaner one.
So its v thick & had few odd comments from vets at JAG time!
 
My passport from Lippizaner society is a riot !! Waited weeks for it and its pretty shoddy ! The photos look as if a child cut round them and stuck them in !! Was embarrassed to show it to my friends !!
 
Interesting read, my big coloured came with a GCS passport and was told about having it renewed with Lippizaner Society. Reluctant to do it but needs must. Had him since May but needed to start his vacs up again so have put it off...
Good to hear that theres someone in same situation and people that have done it. However 6 weeks seems a awful long time..
 
If it's any comfort, I have an International miniature horse and pony society passport and it is horrendous. Pages copied and cut not in the middle, through text and sections. The vets laughed at vaccination time. The most expensive one to change ownership of too, I begrudge sending them money when I could do a better job myself!
