The lady who does my horses back was telling me about a girth she has for her WOW saddle that is like a H - it has a longer bit that goes along the girthing area from front to back (not side to side) with two straps coming off it to the saddle flaps. Apparently it helps spread the pressure of the girth and helps stop the saddle slipping. has anyone else used them and do they work on other makes of saddle?

They do an H girth - its two padded straps connected by one long leather pad in the middle that runs along the horse's belly.

I looked at with Weezy at Blenheim and again last week when Wow fitted my horses.

Its used primarily on horses where the saddle creeps forward. So totally unsuitable for mine where the saddle heads south....

I've just looked on the WOW website and I can't find a pic of this H girth - it sounds just what we need as Star has a forward girth grove and a tendency for the saddle to creep forward.

I would love a WOW saddle!

I don't think the website is up to date

I have totally the opposite problem:

The H girth is a really nice piece of kit and I can see how it would benefit horses who have a tendency to throw their saddles forward. Unfortunately I do not have a pic of the WOW one, but if you email Maggie or David at First Thought I am sure they will send you a pic.

Thanks everyone - in actuall fact my saddle doesn't creep forward! It slides sideways so I don't think it is the girth for me. She was telling me about it as he is a bit sore in his back where the back of the saddle would go - I think she thought it would help stabalise the saddle from sideways roll

I know what you mean. H has no withers, i can not get on from the ground because saddle slides, no matter how tight and then constantly does it when riding !!! he does RDA and someone fell off him cause saddle slipped. Hence I had to try something. and i know his sadlle is fine fitting

will be trying next weekend.

xx

Parsley it may well help with sideways movement - I have the same prob (mine goes left) so I am going to email David and will tell you what he comes up with - will ask about the H girth for you
