H&H Gift Rides... Who Would You???

Ooh, actually, if I can be greedy, Zenyatta please (I'd lose the requisite two stone or whatever) or, if we're doing resurrections, Dessie or Rummy, round Aintree. That would make me deliriously happy for the rest of my days...
 
I'd like a spin on Desert Orchid please :D.

He would prob have run off with me and scared me senseless! However I would love to ride a horse with his power and heart. The bravest horse in the world! I can only imagine what it felt like to see a stride into one of those massive chase fences on him, to feel the acceleration, hear the thundering of hooves behind you, feel the mud in your face and know you couldn't be beaten. Fab.

It helps of course that he was a stunning grey tb, I always thought him one of the most charismatic and stunning horses with his proud head and flowing white tail :). A true athlete, a warrior with class :).

Someone famous, I can't recall who, said that he thought Dessie could have been a top eventer, he was so clever at his fences. Such a fabulous horse, we were lucky to watch him.
 
Welton Envoy always looked really special to me. Michael Jung's River of Joy is jaw-dropping. Probably not that known over there but I was also blown away by Buffero van het Panishof, the ride of Dirk Demeersman, when I saw him at Jumping Brussels a few weeks ago. He is like a sculpture!
 
For me it would have to be Itot Du Chateau or Gem Twist :D

Or the little horse Laura Renwick rode in the Puissance on Friday, I know they didn't do very well, but she had such heart (and my stumpy legs would fit around her :o)
 
Red Rum because he was amazing :)

Oooh and Sefton the police horse that got injured in the bomb thing, even though I wasn't alive when it happened, I read a book on it and he seemed pretty awesome too :)

That doesn't surprise me, some of the pictures of him jumping are insane. The video of him battling through the mud with top weight to win the Cheltenham gold cup despite the fact he's exausted brings tears to my eyes.

I remember when I was a little girl watching Dessie win one of his King Georges and my mum pointing out that he only had his ears pricked when he was in front as he hated being behind :)
 
Umm interesting one!! Have ridden a couple of grand national winners but would live a sit on and to school something like cue card or menorah!

Eventing - used to love Darien power and noe would like a sit on any of wfps or Flint Curtis.

Dressage - tortilas or Larah Bs Elf!

And SJ- somthing that could just give me a feel of how it should be done at about 1.20/1.30!!

Hmmm. You might want to rethink that one if I give you a little insider info... Blyth Tait did some utter magic on him, heaven knows how he won a 4*, but I happened to be in the lorry park one day when the owner (mentioning no names) was haranguing a former jockey (former Badminton winner and GB team member) who had w/d Envoy AGAIN before xc because they didn't trust it an inch and thought it'd turn over with them... a couple of other really really top jockeys apparently didn't love it either, and soon chucked the ride back...
ancient history i know, but interesting.
 
I'd love a ride on Ladina B, I love a good grey with a bit of spirit!
I would love to ride Tortilas as well, however I wouldn't know where any of the controls were and I'd feel completely lost on something like that! It would make a fab photo to show off though :p
 
Seahorse beat me to it. I would love to ride Valegro. He appears so willing and kind. I would love to feel that power and the huge canter.

In reality though I cant wait to ride my own Dixie. Only 2 1/2 years to go.:)
 
Best Mate please! Was lovely enough to see him a few times in the flesh and always adored him. Would settle for Kauto Star if Best Mate is already booked :D :D

I always loved Bits and Pieces too - think that's where my thing for coloured TBs came from!
 
Well most of mine have already been mentioned but Milton, Charisma and Red Rum would be all my past ones. Oh and Sir Wattie. And Master Craftsman. And Be Fair. Oh dear I'm showing my age!!

Who is the lovely chestnut we were all admiring at Badders recently - was it Coolgrange Merger? Really fancy a go on him! And maybe Lenamore too.

Hmm so many to choose from. Shame I wouldn't be able to ride one side of any of them :rolleyes:
 
I would've liked to have done the Grand National on Desert Orchid. Wearing a harness and being attached to overhead cables all the way round so I couldn't fall off! ;-)

If time travel is allowed then Charisma would be at the top of my list!

Dressage wise would love to have a sit on Mistral Horjis - would have to follow K with the neckstrap though!

Saw Dessie at the Royal Welsh many years ago - the time he ran away with his guest jockey on board, can't remember who it was now but he was a lovely horse.

SJ would choose Arko he looks such a kind horse.
 
Had to add that if I could only choose one then it would have to be Alf. Whilst I think it's relatively easy to get a scaled down impression of a SJ/eventer it's not possible to scale down a GP dressage test if you know what I mean. Whilst you can jump a GP SJ track in miniature it's not possible to half pass/piaffe etc in miniature if that makes sense!

Although the way madam's behaved recently I've experienced some of the "High School" moves!

Three definite favourates from the past would have to be:

Caroline Bradley's Marius
Ryan's Son
King William

These three names bring back such great childhood memories and daydreams - showing my age now!
