Seeing as I cannot get into Latest News I will post here.

Whitewash, thats all I can say - MP backs up AT by citing other riders such a thing has happened to - also says AT felt LS take a false step and then he picked up

Nancy Jaffer, in the report, states "the horse bobbled 100m or so before the last fence....and then LEAPED off after the finish line when he became markedly lame..." In the same article MP states "...Without the advatage of video or hindsight, it is hard for a rider to stop a horse when they are that close to the finish and uncertain what is going on...If it happens at the finish, you don't have the LUXURY of going for a bit to see how and when you can pull up"

Views? Must say I understand that H&H have to stay neutral, but the commentators have just white washed over the whole affair.
 
Appalling, any muppet acan see how lame that horse was, and any rider worth their salt should have been able to spot it immediately.

Why doesnt someone stick up for the horse for once!!!

She went on for ages with a hopping lame horse, twice kicking him on when he wanted to trot! She is lucky he still jumped the last fence a bet a few horses with an injury like that would have stopped at the last fence - then what position would she have been in!!?!! She probably would have still cirlcled and kicked him on to try again! Absolutely shocking

Face facts, the horse was hopping lame, it was a good distance from the last fence, and should have been pulled up immediately.
You cant tell me, that a horse who was stumbling, sidestepping changing legs continually up until the last fence was just *ONE FALSE STEP*

She knew what she was doing, she wanted to get that horse home *WHATEVER* there was NO WAY that horse was going to trot up sound the following day, that didnt even enter her brain, she just wanted to say *we got home clear*
 
Well I don't think that any of us can be suprised at MP's comments as they were widely publicised before going in to the print in H&H. The fact that he is also her trainer means that his loyalty is going to lie with her, and his comments will reflect that - at least in public anyway.
 
Perhaps a few letters to H&H are in order?
I can understand that they have to remain neutral (and are probably awaiting the outcome of the FEI investigation) BUT is seemed to be clear to the spectators/commentator that there was a serious problem. If MP is allowed to try to justify her decision then I do not understand why another "expert" was not given the same opportunity to question her actions

Honours goto Le Samurai who despite his despicable rider managed to jump the last fence, stay on his feet and not do a 'rotational fall' and squish AT

Far better people than AT are dead from rotational falls when jumping uninjured horses.

However, by using Mark Phillips as the "Comment" this week they expect letters regarding views on his column, so hopefully we will see letters appear next week.

Also, forgive me if I'm wrong, but aren't there meant to be stewards/fence judges etc that are able to pull a horse out if they think something's wrong, which anyone can see it most certainly was? I know it was the last fence but I would be wanting answers from those people on the ground too! I hope and pray that nothing like that would have been able to happen here.

Foggy by name, Foggy by nature; he will have lost a lot of respect over this; doesn't matter that he is team or her trainer. At all times, the horse's welfare should be top of anybody's list.
 
I can understand that H&H cant really voice their true views on the matter, having not read the article tho i cant really comment on much else. I also understand that MP has to really defend her as hes the team trainer - i guess hes in a difficult situation as he dosent want to be seen to criticise her but also im assuming hes probably got his own private views on this aswell which hes not sharing with the public.

I guess we just have to wait for the verdict from the FEI now.........
 
I saw a clip on line of this the other day - it was disgusting frankly. You dont have to know horses to see there was something seriously wrong with that horse.
 
it wouldnt have been difficult for her to stop that horse, he tried to break into a trot a couple of times, and she just pushed him on.

that is not acceptable, the poor horse was severely lame!
 
I haven't read it yet, but can not believe that any one could justify what she did. Her actions were despicable and she should be held to account over it. That poor horse was wobbling all over the place and i just can not imagine the pain he was in. When you see athletes/footballers pull up when they have pulled something badly and you see the pain they are in you can only imagine what that poor horse went through to get over that fence and carry on.
 
Quite shocking isn't it, defending the clearly indefensible. We'll never truly know what went through her mind but I just can't help thinking she must've genuinely been so hungry to finish that she took leave of her senses and failed to notice the obvious injury to her horse when the Finish Line was dangling in front of her eyes. I just can't think of any other "reason" for her to do what she did. Horse was never going to pass the vetting or trot up sound the next day so her Rolex was over regardless of "finishing" XC.

One thing that keeps playing through my mind though. If Horse and Hound truly felt she'd done nothing wrong, wouldn't these posts have been removed by Admin for fear of being seen as defamatory. The fact that HHO is happy for our comments and response to her actions to remain active on the boards, speaks volumes to me.
 
IMO - rider was totally in the wrong and should of pulled up........ horse had broken down before jump - if you have any type horsemanship skills, you would of know, it's something rider will have to live with.....
 
possibly ones referring to MP and his association (and therefore possible unbiased opinion) with AT and the USA Team.
