I took Ned for a lovely hack this morning :) He was so well behaved!! We even had a slightly longer canter!
He was really good, the church bells started ringing and we had to pass a field of horses galloping around. He got a little strong, but I didn't feel worried :)
I'm so glad he's getting fitter, he's even lost a bit of podge!

Anyway, I will admit, I've always been too scared to try riding Ned and leading Cookie, even in the field! But today I put on my big girl pants and decided to have a go!

Ned was perfection, I feel that horse is worth his weight in gold now!!

Cookie however didn't really get it, which is understandable, he's never done it before! He didn't really get that he had to move at first, but he was soon walking along with me :) Very impressed for our first go!

Another go tomorrow, I think :D Hopefully soon I'll be able to take them out of the field :O :D

Lovely, well done to both of them!

I don't know how big Ned and Cookie are but I used to ride a 16.2 while leading a mini shetland, it was so funny as we had a casual walk along and the little shetland's leg were going so quickly doing a little trot to keep up with our slow walk! It was excellent way of exercising the little fatty though!
I also used to do this while a little girl rode the shetland but she was less keen as she found it very tricky to rise to his super speedy trot!

Haha I have the most adorable image in my head!

Cookie is 9hh and Ned is 15.1, so not as much of a height difference!

I used to do ride and lead with the old mare and my then youngster. Thankfully both seemed to get used to it really quickly but only walked and trotted - although was always interesting when Nugz stopped for a poo as me and old mare would carry on and I'd end up dragged out the back door. Old mare would stop and sigh and look witheringly at nugz as if to say 'I told you to go before we left' :D
