I did on my mare, if you are worried about legality then maybe look at a soft pad with stirrups...just dont put any pressure on stirrups

my potenitial new boy a a safe chunky monkey and i'm seriously debating hacking and schooling him bareback/sheepskin pad until he shifts some lbs unless my other saddle fits him....i used to always finished schooling poppy with a wee bareback sesh i think it give u a much stronger bond
