Hackamore and Bit Combination

Can anyone suggest any ideas for me on how to create this? My horse is 15h Arab and I normally Jump him in a hackamore but steering is a issue so i normally just put a bit in him althou he is a very sensitive horse so looking to combine a bit and a hackmore. I have seen this done with a german hackamore and a bit but not to sure, any tips? Thank you
 
he wouldnt like them, as the shakes are long and uses the mouth piece at the same time, it would be like a 3 ring gag but with added nose pressure. His so sensitive its unreal but his happy in his NS snaffle but i always jump in hackamore as pressure on his mouth he hates!!
 
I worked for a lady who used to ride in a hackamore and snaffle, on a double bridle. As far as I know she had a rein on each and just rode the horse with two reins. :)

Fair enough if you don't like them, but for any others reading, you get long and short shank versions, and you don't have to use the rein on the bottom ring, which removes the poll action.
 
thats really what i want to do but instead of 2 reins maybe use a rounding or something, was it a english or german hackamore? thank you
 
Hmm, I'm really not sure. I would like to say english, but this was about 7 years ago now and I only worked for her one summer!

I'm not sure if it would work well with roundings and you wouldn't be able to define the stop and steering controls would you?
 
Are you looking to use a straight pull and a snaffle, there are western bridles like that, otherwise the double bridle idea would work. Also, I'm on my phone do don't have the links, but if you search photos of Hickstead he wore something similar, rigged up with a split rein. He wore quite an exciting array of bits, actually!
 
yeah i have just googled some pictures, that is away is kinda what i suppose i want, just looks like alot going on there doesnt it. But hey if it works. Not overally keen on the design of the myler i think it would be a bit to strong.
