Does anyone have any smart, comfy hackamore bridle recommendations? Cobbled together a hackamore bridle using an old rusty hackamore and old brittle headpiece as an emergency bridle at cricklands due to a sore mouth and horse went surprisingly well! Nice rhythm and lovely jump so looking for a permanent solution! Ideally looking for a complete bridle.

Also same horse has a dandruffy itchy mane. Isn’t rubbing but loves a good scratch. Looking for something that might help clear up a bit of dandruff. Tail is absolutely fine!

I've never bought one but I have wondered about this one before.

ETA - WALDHAUSEN X-LINE BITLESS BRIDLE

I'm sure they are available elsewhere.

that's an English hackamore the sort I have used for many years successfully. I would recommend the hackamore but not buying a complete bridle with an English hackamore attached. In fact I find I can't buy a complete bridle for an E. Hack.
I have found for an average horse you probably require a FS headpiece and browband and pony size cheeks. If you were to get FS cheeks the hackamore may well be far too low on the nose.

If you were interested in the E Hack I would kibble up an old bridle with the correct size headpiece, browband (if you want one) and cheek pieces and either buy pieces at the saddlers or ask them to make one.

So that’s the type he’s been riding in. Numpty question what’s the other types of hackamores? Saw a lovely bridle with what I thought was an English hackamore on a horse in another class but didn’t ask what it was/where it was from (I think it had a second nose and?)

Good suggestion re: saddle fitter I might see how much it would be if the one we use would to sell/fit one.

I love my D'yon hackamore bridle.
I regularly swap which hackamore nosebands I use with it. I'll get a picture.
Ps. My horse also jumps so much better in her hackamore.

I had the same experience recently when horse had a gum ulcer had to move to a hackamore. I bought the S-hackamore and added sheepskin rolls (as I was a bit nervous about using one). Amazing result. Not sure it was the hackamore, I feel a large part of it was me being far more aware of my hands. When I’ve gone back to a bit, the gains made in the hackamore have been retained.

Best product for itchy mane and tail is Aldi anti-dandruff shampoo. Beats any horse product hands down.

Almond oil massaged into the roots also calms the itchiness post a wash with anti dandruff shampoo.
