Hacking? Alone or in company?

Which do you prefer? I am being nosey
I hack out by myself most of the time as there is not usually anyone about when i go to ride and i do thoroughly enjoy it. It can be scarey but i do really enjoy it, just me and my horse, doing what we want, how we want, when we want
Dont get me wrong i love riding out with others,but sadly dont really get much opportunity so have began to love going it alone

So what about you? Which is it for you and why? Is it both for you?

I have always loved hacking alone - time to wind down, just me and my horse and my thoughts....
It's my relaxation....
And it's always been that way for me, from my early teens onwards.
 
I always hack alone, apart from the odd occasion when I head to a friends place. I do prefer riding in company as you have someone to chat to for a while

I also hacked out alone since i was a very young teen so maybe thats why i still enjoy it so much, it is nice to unwind just you and your horse like you say mickey, i have had the same star horsey for the past 15yrs and she has always been pretty good to hack alone

I always preferred hacking out on my own until I broke my young horse so thought it safer to hack in company, now he is nearly seven I have just started hacking on my own again

still like the company of my friend though when she is able to come too.
 
Either really I ride out and if anyone is riding then they tag along with me but I dont mind to be honest, Unless someone has said they are riding out with me I get on and go out.

I am lucky as on a decent size yard so always someone riding but I only go out with handful of people as I dont gallop horse up and down everywhere like some people do on my yard.
 
I usually hack with my sister, her mare is my mares field companion and best buddy, however my girl enjoys going out with just me as well, so I have the best of both worlds!

I like hacking with other people but I prefer hacking on my own because it's just me and Shad and I can unwind and think to myself without having to make conversation, and I've often hacked on my own since I was about 12 so I've got used to it.

I nearly always hack alone and really enjoy it. Yes, there are the odd scary moments when a companion would be nice, but on the whole it's great to be alone with the horse and one's thoughts. I always carry my mobile though ...
 
I always used to hack alone, which could be fun or equally could be a near death experience as Cat could be v spooky & flighty if he felt like it.

Since we've moved & I can't get onto bridleways without going on the road, o/h always comes with me & new horse Adrian on his mountain bike & now I can't imagine going out alone.
 
I much prefer hacking alone but my new horse is a bit daft on his own so I have to hack in company (at the moment - hopefully not forever!). It can be nice having someone to chat to it's just no-one ever wants to canter!
 
Prefer riding alone, but then rarely get company who have such a fast walk as Ruby, and there's nothing quite as annoying as having to hold her back which results in jogging, though company can be a nice change.
 
After the bad time we had last year I never thought we'd be able to hack out alone again. Now we go out a couple of times a week on our own!

I love the time we spend on our own but do also love a good race across the downs.....don't mind either way! He can get a bit excitable when we go out with Mangobiscuits boy though...
 
I very rarely hack, because our yard is on a blind corner of a very busy main road, because we're on our own there, and Flash is only young so its a bit of a scarey experience! If we do brave it I quite like being on my own, he seems to behave a bit better as he's easily wound up by other horses, but sometimes I'd like someone around in case anything goes wrong!
 
Im not sure, it totally depends on my mood. If I want someone to talk to then I love being in compnay but a lot of the time I just want to wander along by myself. Its our relaxation time!!
 
I like either.

Alone is good cos I can go at my own pace, canter when me and B want to and stop when we want to!

But in company is good too as B loves it and gets all excited!

Also my best friend has just started riding one of the yards hirelings so we can finally ride out together, rather than one walking and swopping half way!
 
Yeah same as randle. I like a bit of both. Once a week ill hack in company and once on her own. Its nice on your own and im not ashamed to say i have full blown conversations with pony im sure people think im crazy! Also can go for canters where and when i like. But with friend have a good old gossip and the odd time we canter its much more fun cos pony gets excited and competitive!
