Hacking - benefits to the rider

Hello guys!

Hoping for some help! Having a mind blank while trying to make a poster to advertise hacking at the riding school I volunteer at.

We take out hacks every weekend - trot / steady canter / fast canter - so cater for different levels of experience.

We will shortly be adding in some week day hacking now that the nights are lighter so I am making a poster to advertise these on our Facebook page.

I am trying to think of some text to put on the poster to appeal to new clients, whether it is riders from elsewhere, those who have had a break from riding for a while but would like to get back into it, or perhaps our riding school clients who ride in lessons but do not hack at the moment.

I was thinking of trying to highlight the benefits it can have in relation to rider confidence etc, but I can't seem to think of the words. Any suggestions?

Or is there anything else I could be including on the poster that you can think of?

Any tips/pointers would be much appreciated :)

Not the wording you want, but hacking is confidence building, social you make friends, build a bond with the horse, see the beautiful countryside, it is relaxing, you may learn to ride up and down hills, learn road craft, you may have coffee and biscuits after, it is low pressure....
 
I don't think i'm any good with wording but this is what i like about hacking (and why i might choose to go to a hacking centre when on holiday):

- Relaxing.
- low pressure (compared to schooling where I feel i have to 'perform').
- Getting lost/at one with nature/the countryside (as in in your mind - not actually getting lost!!).
- Exploring the countryside - no better way to see the outdoors or a new place then from the back of a horse!
- Confidence building
- Developing a relationship with your horse.
- Blowing the cobwebs away/wind in your hair!
- The peacefulness and quietness of wandering along a field/track/in the woods with your horsey partner :)
 
See the countryside from a different point of view.
Relax and chat with friends whilst building a more confident partnership with the horse.
Get out of the school and into an environment that both you and the horse can enjoy.
 
I hack about 90-95% of the time and I’m sure it’s actually helped me develop a better independent seat as after all we ride over all terrain, up and down steep hills, we jump ditches and fallen trees, ducking as we ride under tree branches, scramble up & down banks, cross streams and it has definitely improved my jumping/forward position as we canter and gallop for miles. You develop your feel for speed, pace and distance as well. My native used to be incredibly stuffy, but has really learnt to trot and canter with impulsion and power out hacking & I can roughly track pace & distance in my head now, whereas I wouldn’t have a clue before!

I definitely think it’s helped develop a better bond, relationship and understanding of my horse, his personality and how he reacts to things.

Obviously you also have the relaxation and being at one aspect of being out on your horse in the British countryside in all seasons. We regularly come across herds of wild deer and have an abundance of wild birds, wild plants and flowers – what’s better than that really?

I do enjoy dressage and jumping too, but I would still ride if I couldn't do those things. I'm not sure if still ride if I couldn't hack.
