So my horse hunni is amazing! hardly plays up and does most things without a second glance!(of course, they have their days -.-) and hacking is always been our favorite thing to do! when i first had hunni i could barley trot, she has taught me how to ride, and i hacked out with some of my friends and i had my first canter with them and she was good as gold!(bear in mind that was in a field!) I've never had a problem cantering her anywhere! but recently (well 2/3 months ago) the council put cows on our common(untouched land where it s all sand) and me and a friend decided to check it out and decided to canter over there and she bucked most of it, now i didn't fall off and it didn't bother me in the slightest, but recently i took her to licomb xc and cantered then galloped her there, and she didn't even think about bucking! when i was a very novice rider i used to canter on the common all the time! never even played up! saying that she was in season(she gets very touchy and sensitve in season) and she hadn't been on there in like 3 months :L any ideas? im just curious ! energy maybe? oh and she is scared of the cows!

i'd say she was probably just feeling a bit fresh or could be she was sensitive due to her being in season. wouldn't have thought it anything to worry about if it was just a one off and she hasn't behaved in this way since.

Welcome to the forum!

I think there's all sorts of reasons why a horse might suddenly behave out of character like this: a slight change of diet (had she had something sugary ar high protein?), being cooped up for a day or two, being in season or the wind blowing round her ears...

Has she done it since?
