I endurance rode in a dressage saddle. An Albion K2 was what fitted the horse, so I went with that. Looked a little odd with fenders and ezi-ride stirrups. but hey, whatever works. Canter work was no problem, I just rode three point, with long stirrups - great for the core. Retired from endurance now, but I still hack her in it - it's a super comfy saddle and fits her a treat.

Hack, jump whatever ... In the past I've jumped a 3ft round of jumps in a dressage saddle - not something I 'do' now - just the thought of jumping 3 ft makes me feel queasy - but there is no good reason not to hack in a dressage saddle...

I hack in mine. My jumping saddle hurts my bum if I walk for miles with my Tb's big slopey walk, but the DR saddle is v comfy. Galloping in it is doable, not as secure as my jump saddle though so I like to do my fast work if poss in that instead. I have jumped small jumps in it - not pleasant in a horse that stops, though! General hacking, schooling and pole work all in the DR saddle though, only jumping and canter intervals in my jump saddle.

I think it depends what design, some of them you can have your knees over the flaps no problem but I have tried some where can can't adjust your position much at all, do not like!

I have one of those horses where it is a miracle if you can find one saddle to suit both of us but at the moment it's a jumping saddle which I love as I have to have my stirrups shorter for my small round horse!

I only have a dressage saddle for my TB so I use it for flatwork and hacking. I prefer it to GP saddles as problems with my knee and hip mean that I can't ride much shorter anyway. My last TB also only had a dressage saddle and I used to do everything in it including jumping and going on a local trainers gallops in it.

Hack in mine too, just a cheap thorowgood griffin, but comfy enough. Daughter jumps in it, and last weekend was 10th out of 50 starters at a 75cm jumping class!

iv taken my ex racer flat out round the gallops in a dressage saddle, and its a mono flap with an external thigh roll. if i can do that, then ordinary canter work shouldnt be an issue :)

This. I went everywhere on Fly in a dressage saddle. All the spins, spooks, impressions of a gazelle having a fit etc. and she never managed to unseat me.

I have a dressage horse who only has a dressage saddle.
She hacks in it, goes up the gallops in it and I will even pop the odd small log in the woods in it!

I hack in one all the time. It has removable knee blocks. I take these off if we're going to do something that requires hoiking up the stirrups a bit - some low level jumping at home, or some fittening work on hacks (we're in the Fens, canter work has to be upped to achieve anything like that of those with nice hills to ride up and down). Unfortunately, we don't have a jumping saddle at the moment and it's a case of AIO.

I have a DR and a jumping saddle. I do everything bar "proper" jumping in my DR saddle. The only time the jumping saddle comes out of the cupboard at home is when I'm either going jumping, having a jumping lesson or doing some jump practise at home. Horse hacks, does fast canters, pops little logs in the woods, does pole work, in the DR saddle. Our hacking is v hilly too and I've never experienced a problem with hacking up/down hills in it (I saw someone say that earlier in the thread).
