I fancy a hacking jacket, for some local showing (that I'll probably never get round to doing but hey ho!), but don't want to spend a fortune, so am scouring Ebay.

Does it matter what colour jacket I buy? Is one colour considered more "proper" than another??

I ask, as I one I have seen is a black/grey check one, with a black velvet colour and just doesn't quite look right. I normally consider a hacking jacket to be brown or green, but would black/grey be ok??

I'm afraid I thing the grey/blue jackets look cheap (they usually are!) and they suit very few people riders or horses.

Get a green or brown jacket ( I prefer green as brown can be hard to get 'right').

If you want something cheap have a look at Shires Huntingdon. The green check is lovely, and the blue is really nice too (much darker blue than the cheap ones)
