OMG decided as it WASNT raining id go for nice hack to relax. I came back so peeved off instead! Said thankyou to every car that passed us, well what did i get back? I got ONE smile, and ONE thankyou back! I was it two minds after about the 7th car to not thank them, but decided to carry on as a test!

I havent hacked out much recently, but i do think people are more ignorant than ever before. Also had the usuals who come round narrow country lanes at speed in their range rover sport!!

So was i just unlucky with the drivers that were out and about tonight or have you lot had the same experiences??

I have now relaxed after a bath, might skip the hack next time, and just relax in the bath instead!

I find generally most drivers round me are very good and do slow down, and nod or smile at you, raise hand etc. I will always wave or smile to say thankyou if they slow down, if they just carry on driving fast I don't; simple! Fortunately my horse is very good in traffic so he doesn't mind if they don't slow down, but obviously it would be nice if they all did anyway, just in case your horse was nervous.

I think I am pretty lucky where we are. Most drivers slow right down - mind you I do ride big heavy horses and am all togged out in hi viz

so they can't help but notice me. The young lads are the best - they usually stop and even turn off their beat boxes

, but I have put this down to the fact they are worried about their precious cars, rather than my horses

. Generally, I don't have any problems - all the local drivers know me and I always thank them and wave. However, there are some local riders near here who never acknowledge drivers who slow for them, won't wear hi viz as they think it naff and give the rest of us a bad name

Never come across so many ignorant people in the village where mine are kept. Saying that though, half an hour hack in the other direction up to the moors, people are lovely, haven't come across one person who doesn't slow down etc....It's just trying the get there in one piece!

Generally around my area where my horse is kept at the moment the drivers are right pigs.. So they dont receive a thanks.. For the small minority that do slow down I make sure they always get a wave. Fortunately my horse is bombproof in the heaviest of traffic, shes has to put up with drivers racing past and beeping their horns at us..

All of the drivers round our way are like that - in fact, it is rare we get anyone slow down anymore. They all charge past at 50mph on narrow country lanes. I thought perhaps it was just the area I'm in.
