I've recently lost a bit of weight going from a size 20 to a size 16. I bought a hacking jacket about 4 months ago and it's now far too big for me. I've only worn it twice! What a waste!

Trouble is, I'm not sure of what size to go for. I'm a 36/38 DD in the boobage area so do I get a size 38 in a jacket?

Also, I've got a lovely pair of sergio grasso gaitors (also only worn twice) that are made for generous calf sizes (18inch), but again too big. I'm loathed to put them on ebay as looking around, they'll go for peanuts and I bought them for £95! So what do I do with them?

I also need new riding boots....and even though I've slimmed down my calves, they still don't fit into the 'wide' fittings of most boot makes. I've looked at equitector, but they are still quite pricey....I want something cheap and cheerful!

Fantastic well done you, what an achievement!!

It depends on the make of the Jacket. I am a 34 f and need a size 40. Try on several jackets 36-40 and see what make and size is the most comfortable before buying anything.

Do you have a local saddler who could take the gaiters in for you so they fit?

Saxon (from weatherbeta) do a range of boots in a wide range of sizes. The boots are made of a synethetic leather called equi-leather. I know 4dobbin had some in stock. I really like the Mountain horse boots, my previous boots lasted 5 years, worn every single day.

Thanks hb6 - it does feel good!

The jacket I have is a 40 and drowns me...I guess trying on is the way forward. I feel bad then becuase I would try on in a shop but buy online as it's cheaper....

Hadn't though about having the gaitors taken in....tbh I don't like riding in them, much prefer longer boots. I have dodgy ankles so prefer the support boots give. I love Mountain horse boots too, but they just don't come wide enough for me.

I'll have a look for Saxon though..

I'm a 34 DD and wear a size 36 so it goes to show that it depends on the jacket.

Well done on the weight loss.

If the 40 drowns you, go for the size 38 (I always prefer something with a bit of extra room)

Is there somebody you know who would like a pair of the gaiters, could you advertise them in a mag or locally esp if you do not like them.

Of all the Mountain horse boots, I have found the High Rider to have the most room, but see what you think of the saxon.

I hope you do not mind me asking, but how did you do it?

Losing the weight? I'ts been because I am back riding nearly every day now and doing yard work and generally being much more active. I'm a total chocoholic and haven't really changed my eating pattern, it's been the exercise that's done it.

I think if you are a 38 bra then that means your chest measurement is about 32 inches and if you are DD then your full chest measurements would be around 38" so I would go for either the 38 or 40

It depends on your cup size as well as back measurement because to be a DD there needs to be something like and extra 5 inches between your back and cup measurement; to be an F there'd need to be about 7 or 8 inches difference. Also, manufacturers differ on the cut of their jackets.
