I am sure I am getting boring now but what the heck.

This morning cool and early I hacked out the impossible to buy 7 year old forward going impeccably mannered cob.

We were out about an Hour and a quarter. And did a circular ride but out and back involved 3 gates.

He was an absolute angel. I managed two of the gates mounted but one was a bit fiddly so I had to dismount. He stood rock solid as I remounted and didn't put a hoof out of place. The hack involved a huge field of cows and we had to zig zag to make sure we didn't get between one cow and her ickle calf. As it was determined to be in the wrong place, ride through a village past dragons (black bin bags) at least two berserk garden dogs, a chain saw and a ride on mower.

We also passed another livery yard with fields full of horses and apart from nearly falling over in his nosiness he didn't put a hoof wrong.

I am in heaven

What a good boy you have Fibble, esp. with the cows.

I boxed up this morning to the mendips and was tacked up and away from box at 7am - bliss - no-one else around, lovely and cool with a lush breeze up the top - just me, Dex and the dog ! cant beat solo !

pic from this morning - dog is lurking in the background

Today was the ultimate we hacked solo again through the sunken road with the SHEEP  There is a small gate then Sheep Alley ( a corner of their field) then a second gate into the woods.

SHEEP are frightening they do stuff  and just when we had gently walked through them stopping and letting them shift some extra cunning sheep shot from behind a tree and attacked him (his words not mine) so he did a mini rear and spun.

We continue on our ride and met the next vicious evil Gargoyle a field had two donkeys in it with a teeny weeny Donklet foal this time he snorted and grew from 15.3 to 18hh just to ward them off and finally ......

On our return thru the woods the farm opposite his were Clay Pigeon shooting. They are supposed to warn us. It was like the battle of the Somme with a double richochet and sounded so close I was tempted to duck.....and Charlie..... he was oblivious.:o

At least your hacks cant be called boring !!!

The more you do Solo the more he will see and be accepting of -although obviously there will always be the odd horse eating monster somewhere on the route !

Sounds like you are having a great time.
