Hi, I am looking to expand my hacking and box up to go to places, but it is difficult to know where you can go when you need to park a trailer. Does anyone have any suggestions or is anyone a member of windsor great park. Also if anyone wants to meet up to hack in surrey that would be great!

Surrey Hills is a good spot, has a huge bridle path that runs for miles (through Pippa Funnels yard!!) - but you'd be wise to check some of the carparks beforehand - they have "anti pickey bars" which stop trailers and boxes (and, obviously, gypsies!).

There's a handful on Ranmore Common that the hunt use, but they're definitely good for trailers/boxes!

Epsom downs ,car park next to Keiths tea hut near tattenham corner. Leads you into some of the best hacking in southern England.

Is Virginia Water part of Windsor Park?

These are Hants/Surrey/Wilts border area but there's good (albeit permitted) riding on the MOD land around Twesledown and the forestry commission land at Bramshill: Both of these have a few nice hunt jumps dotted around too. Then there's Bracknell Forest, which I believe has a good selection of bridleways although I've never ridden there.

There's Salisbury Plain too, although I guess that might be a bit too far?

Trying to think where else I've done sponsored rides or similar. There's a nice selection of bridleways through open fields in Crondall too, although maybe not worth the effort of boxing too. To be perfectly honest, riding on Tweseldown and over to Crondall kept me and the horse perfectly amused every weekend for 8 or so years and for whole days at a time.

I would be careful with Ranmore - yes there is a massive car park on the top of the hill but in nice weather/bank holidays, the car park gets packed so if you do want to go, best to go early. We also have loads of cyclists (big time) so be warned.

Also - good is there is normally an ice cream van there though none of us ever remember to bring money with us. Bad is that you must under no circumstances leave your bag on the lorry. I locked my handbag in the boot to walk the dogs and came back to find that I had been watched and the boot forced open. All in broad daylight with loads of people around. Then I found out that this car park is notorious for it! Hacking though is lovely - plan a route so you can ride upto Polesden Lacey - lovely!
