Hacking to shows/lessons - is 6 miles away too far?

Been years since I was last without transport. Am considering getting my girlie fit enough to hack six miles to dressage lesson, then home again. She used to hack about 4/5 miles to get in friend's lorry, go to show then hack home again five years ago, and is 11 now so in her prime so to speak...?

She currently does an hour on the walker in the morning, and 30-40 mins schooling in the evening.

If she is fit enough why not? think of the miles covered at a fast pace by hunters and endurance horses!

If it means you having fun, go for it!

definitely not too far if she is even half fit- i hack further than that some days to get the the meet for a day's hunting!

I would do it and my girl is 18, but she is rather fit

The hack would do her good and loosen her up, in the old days we used to hack to shows and stay all day, do loads of classes and hack home, in all weathers too, clearly I wouldnt do that now but times have changed and we treat our horses very differently these days.
