I was wondering what you guys take on a hack with you?

I do alot of hacking and sometimes on my own. I carry a bum bag with me which has the following:

-Bailing Twine
-Folding hoof pick
-Pen knife (mini one just in case)
-ID card
-Money (you know- just in case I happen to go on a pub ride)
-Place for keys and phone
-Polos
-Mini first aid kit (plasters, antibacterial wipes)

Am I being OTT or does anyone else carry this? I always like to be prepared and I like that a bum bag doesn't move or flap around. In fact it hardly interferes and I don't realise I have it.

99% of my hacking is done alone & up to 10 miles or so, I don't take much. Just phone and a hoof pick normally! I

If going a bit longer, then likely to take a drink for myself, a leadrope and snacks.

I only bother with money if I'm doing a pub ride.

I normally just take a phone. If doing a sponsored/pleasure ride or hunting I'll maybe take a drink a Mars bar and a few polos as well.

I hack on my own most of the time, particularly in the summer, getting the hunters fit.

I take my phone.

On fun rides, I take my phone and the organisers tend to hand out a contact phone number, so I'll have that stashed somewhere.

A bumbag would drive me insane. It's annoying enough in the summer trying to find somewhere to put my phone, let alone anything else.

I hack mostly on my own I tend to take my phone ( whic( has bank card and some ID in the case), a length of baling twine and a penknife.
If going particularly far then I tend to take lead rope, some treats for him and some food for me

Love my solo hacking! I go out for hours. Saddle bag with phone, money, string, hoofpick and polos. I also have a pouch on my saddle with emergency details in. If its somewhere I don't know I take a print out of os map. I try to take a drink too, capri sun as it fits flat in my saddle bag. I get a banging headache otherwise on a long ride.

Phone and in winter tissues as I always seem to have a runny nose. When I went trekking I had a few more bits in a bumbag but we were riding for 8 hours away from civilisation.

I think I've just gone over safety cautious as I've got older.

I never used to bother but I always think what if this and that happens.

Plus it's always handy to have as other people have used my little stash of things when we've been out and have always thought it was a good idea.

Horse also has dog tags with emergency number on both her saddle and bridle! OTT but at least I know I'm covered!

similar to all the above. I had a little Contacts list attached to the saddle, in case we got detached giving telephone numbers, vet, owner, address which is a bit OTT but you never know.

If I am going in the forest where the phone signal is notoriously not good - lots of gullies and ravines - I add a whistle to my bum bag, so if I came off, couldn't move, no phone, I could blow the whistle. Since there are deer liable to jump/run at any moment, even the quietist horse could have a meltdown.

Most of my hacking is alone, mainly off road, through forestry tracks or very quiet footpaths. I take my phone and some chopped carrots.

As a child it was a pack of sarnies, polos and 10p for the phone.

Now I have RoadID tags on my saddles with all my details should I part company when hacking solo and although I know I should I rarely carry my phone when close to home. I do have a bum bag for longer rides with first aid kit for me and horse, hoof pick and stash of emergency food for the both of us.

I only take my phone and always hack alone unless at a fun ride or boxing to go meet someone, in the summer it's the only thing that will fit in my little hi viz tabard pocket.

Phone and a folding hoof pick. Polos if I'm on a youngster who needs bribing.

When I used to do all day rides, lunch and water strapped on the saddle in various fashions and some fly spray.

Although in winter I ride out in my yard jacket and often had all sorts of tat in my pockets.

Phone.

Sometimes car keys and a few horse treats if there's a pocket going spare, but that's not an intentional "taking", more just failing to put down... If I'm going long distance somewhere I don't know, I tend to stick on saddle bags to take an OS map and compass - might stick in a drink, and there's likely to be assorted junk in there from the last time we did TREC too.

I do most of my hacking on the farm so I just take my phone. If we were going elsewhere I would take phone and hoof pick.

I have a tag on my saddle with contact details and the Farm address, just in case we ever parted company.

OP that's super prepared!
I usually just take my phone, although now my Mum made me get a smartphone I can't fit it in my jodhpur pockets anymore so not sure how to take it with me when I'm just wearing a t shirt! So the last few rides I haven't even taken my phone. If I'm going on a really long ride I'll occasionally take a few pound coins as well just on the off chance I meet an ice cream van :D

I don't wear a jacket at this time of year so I wear a bum bag with my phone in it, (In case I have an unpleasant encounter with the tarmac). I also wear a back protector, because of the aforementioned tarmac.

I never used to wear hi viz as it never occurred to me until I read threads about it on hho. So I have now changed my ways, and wear a vest thing

I only take my phone, which has an os map of the area on it and have a fab hi viz tabard with a pocket so no issues with where to keep it. Can’t bear to wear anything extra for storage in the hot weather but I don’t go that far anyway.

Well there's emergency contact details on my various hi vis' and a horse version on my tack. But aside from that just phone, smokes, handful of horse treats and diddy pen knife. If less than an hour hack I just take phone and treats.

Phone and keys, sometimes fags. Always carry a penknife in my breeches pocket and horse has emergency contact details on saddle and bridle. And they get a mint when they have worked so usually a tatty packet with a couple in.

However, depending on time of year, my pockets can also be full of tissues, fibre nuggets, gloves, string....
