Hello!

I've been inadvertantly thrown back into the horse world after a long absence, after I was given a horse by an emigrating friend. I went to pick him up, and was shown a 16h chestnut gelding with an upright shoulder, workmanlike hocks and a rather wild expression in his face. I used to own thoroughbreds and was not sure what to make of the gelding, who is 3/4s hackney. He's broken to ride not drive, and has an astonishing jump. I hope to affilliate him after he matures a bit, but we have our problems because he is extremely excitable and 'quirky'.
Does anyone else compete with er...'unconventional' breeds? I would love to hear of your experiences!!!

Hi there
I compete in Endurance on my Hackney mare. She is extremley excitable and the quirkiest horse I have ever known but once she gets over the fact that everything is so exciting/ scary she settles down and really covers the ground. She too is a fab jumper although I dont do much of that with her and always has a rather wild expression on her face!! Good luck with him, once you've got that bond they are very loyal.
