...and went for a little (very little) walk up the road on my own on Murphy

I know it doesn't sound like much, but I have owned Murphy for over a year and never managed to ride out on the roads on my own in that time because I've always been too scared

I went about 200m and back (a very, very little hack!!), and passed loads of cars, horses in fields, road signs and Murphy was perfect. I had to use quite a lot of leg to get him going but once we were on our way we were fine

I really do love that little pony to bits

Pointless self indulgent post - but wanted to update you all really because i posted a few weeks ago about how much hacking scared me.

Keep at it and really believe in yourself, just keep telling yourself that you CAN do it and you will progress. Well done.

Thank you everyone! I'm hoping to go a little bit further next time, and just build it up gradually. Murphy definitely looks after me and was such a good boy

Box_of_Frogs - yep, that's the hairy little monster!!

Congratulations! You're doing so well at the moment! It's amazing how happy things like this make us. I've had a few terrifying alone hacks on my boy in the last few months and have been chickening out of going on a full hack. Yesterday my OH came with me on foot and I managed some trot and a bit of canter. I was so happy afterwards - no bucking and I could stop! I'd been so scared beforehand. And Ronnie was very good, tense and worried but listened to me when I asked him to calm down and reassured him. He even investigated some crackling in the hedge, instead of turning and running. Yay! Little step but I'm so happy.

Murphy is such a superstar, you're so lucky
