Was driving home from a lesson & noticed a pheasant in the middle of the road with it's little head still up, people just kept driving over it (luckily it was going between the wheels) & it eventually kind of flapped off the road.
I went all the way round and back again and stopped to catch the little thing (my dad was in the car with me so I got him to drive) I covered his head with sheet and we were driving him to the wildlife rescue centre but when we were nearly there he died :(
It was horrible he just had a fit then went all floppy ... I've never actually held something while it died, anyway I cried like a baby while my dad looked at me not able to understand cos it was "only a bird" but I felt so guilty started to think I'd done something to kill it. Sooo yeah you will probably think I'm a loony now upset over a pheasant ... Lol.

Anyway a more horsey related question ...

Would any of you buy a youngster even if meant obviously not being able to ride for a few years as having more than one horse is not an option?

I ran one over, i just did not seem him the little thing just came out of no where! I cried too, i think its the joys of being a girl.

As for the horsey post, when I was really young I bought a 2 year old as it was all I could afford and waited the year doing all the ground work and then backed her as a 3year old. It was great as she was all made by me. I was really lucky as the livery yard I was on had loads of needies and everyone let me ride their ponys. I dont think I would have enjoyed it so much if I had nothing else to ride.

I cried all w'end once cos I ran over a crow on the motorway. I saw the person in front brake & swerve, but it was dark & hard to see what was there. He was hopping like mad & obv had a broken wing. I got one wheel each side of him to miss him, but my car was a lot lower at the front than I thought, so I hit him.

O/h said it was just as well cos he'd have died more slowly & painfully from a broken wing, but he was looking right at me & desperately trying to hop out of the way. I still felt awful about it tho.
