I nearly had heart failure tonight - my blessed yearling went charging down the field towards the post and rail fence, obviously didn't realise about how slippy the ground was after all the rain.
Luckily I had stayed down at the field to watch the girls as they went off, as Flo reached the fence she tried braking, but just ended up on her bum, and then fell sideways, and ended up on her side, up tight against the gate post, all four legs underneath the lowest rail. I am sure you can imagine me running down the field and the language that I was using as I was running down the field!
Reached Flo, and she was lay on the ground calm as anything, not a sign of panic anywhere. I managed to move her bum a little bit due to the slippy mud, just enough for to be able to wriggle out and get herself righted - but this took me a good 15 - 20 minutes, and I was really starting to panic about my little baby! Even at one point when I went ass over tip in the mud she didn't even stress then.
She has one little nick on her front leg and no other signs of injury. She went off trotting across the field, and seemed quite happy.
Definitely could do without moments like that too often!
