Not saying you can't

Just saying the majority don't. I find text speak okayish (at a push!!) now from younger people but I hate seeing people in their 40s & 50s using it like they are trying to be cool LOL!
It all comes down to personal preference and I would not write someone off because of it necessarily - gosh I must be getting liberal in my old age

oh no u got it all wrong its kl not cool. as u can c i am totally rubbish @ txt spk it takes me ages 2 figure out wot they r sayin.

I suppose in this case I would write someone of because of text speak as they probably are young like you say and my mare would just take the mick.

Well you know your mare and maybe 13 is a bit young but I know alot of young people have alot more guts when it comes to riding - I miss the days when I was fearless for sure! Hope you get the right person for her

To me, failure to use appropriately formal language/punctuation speaks to a lack of care/interest and I would be inclined to think (as a first impression) that this is someone who had not been educated as to correct social norms in the grown up world or, more realistically, who had been given the opportunity at school to learn to do so and had failed to take on board the message. Its possible that they may be really responsible and excellent with horses, but first impressions suggest otherwise and I doubt I would be inclined to take the risk.
Spelling difficulties, split infinitive grammar pickiness, or even misuse of words would not cause me the same concerns as someone who doesn't understand that text speak without punctuation or greetings is not appropriate for initial communication.
There is also something about the use of text speak in this query which did make my first impression that the girl had not spent enough time around horse people to hear "sharp" used in this context, rather than was seeking more details. I think her taking the time to write a couple of sentances and start the message with "hello" might have avoided this impression.

That said, I would nearly always email rather than call if I thought bits of an advert were unclear. Horse people can talk for ages, and the worse the problem is the less interest they get and the more they are trying to sell the horse to any and all enquirers.
You don't want to end up having to put the phone down on someone mid flow because they wont accept that you want nothing to do with a horse that rears (and on occasions, "sharp" has translated into "rears when excited").
