Had a vet down

I know the stable she is in is to small for her to foal in so as soon as the tell tail signs show (if they do) i will turn her out on her own with her best friend in the field fenced off with electric fencing so she not out on her own.

If the D*** had not let his colt's out in the first place my mare and me would not be having to go though this.
If there is anything else bothering you please feel free to let me know i am glad you have let it out your system

Gosh - I hope that if it is born outside - and all goes well - it doesnt get caught up in the electric fencing !!.

I agree that if the colt hadnt been out you and your mare wouldnt be going through this - but reality is........it did and you are and you now have to ensure your mare is catered for as MFH says.

Some mares dont show signs - I hope you don't get caught out. My mare's bottom only dropped very very slightly and she didnt wax up. She was sleeping one minute - lay down and had her baby the next........literally. Good job I was sitting watching the camera or I would have been caught out completely.

The vets kept telling me my mare wasn't in foal although this was just from looking at her when doing jabs etc as I didn't think she's cope with a manual exam. In the end I had a local farm vet do bloods - it cost £30 and they were positive and although I didn't want a foal or the worry, expense, stress etc I now have a gorgeous 3 week old healthy ( touch wood) coloured filly to keep me busy :) Every cloud has a silver lining and enjoy it if you can and as I am and use it as a learning experience as one day you may be able to help someone else from what you have learnt from all this .
Good luck and safe foaling vibes x

That's really good news that you now know what you're dealing with (even if it isn't what you wanted!)
I hope it all goes well for you all and you have two healthy foals (and mares) when it's all over; will look forward to the updates.

But please please pay heed to the concern raised about electric fencing. a newborn foal has no control over its limbs, and they flounder about, falling down, getting half up and crashing back down frequently. Furthermore they don't see 'that well' at first and the foals will have no idea about the electric fencing.

Mares wil often back up to something to foal, and if that somethng is an electric fence the foal could easily even be pushed out into the next door field.

Having said which I hope that it all goes well for them.

Don't worry there is no electric fence going to be used now :)

sorry to all if i seam to have a weird attitude.......

But trust me i have a good reason has the man i rent the stables off and owns the colts is trying to get me off the yard with now two mares in foal with no where to go and not good in moving the mare's at such a late pregnancy....

Where did the second mare come in to this? I also thought it was just the bay mare??
What type is the colt?
Again, like a few before me, I also have doubts if this is real, but if it is, I wish you luck and hope the mares have happy healthy foals.

That's awful, you must be beside yourself.

Where are you - someone here may be able to help you...

I am completely lost too. I thought you only had the one mare you thought was in foal and now you seem to have two!! Anyway good luck with all as things sound a bit tricky at the mo. Many mares foal happily outside so you should be ok
