Went for a hack last night, I was riding a pony im looking after while owner on hols and my friend who part loans Baron from me was riding him. Went to some fields and had a good gallop, decided to go again. This time on the way back they decided to have a little race and got a little excited. All fine except Molly (Pony I was on) got along side Baron who was initially infront. Baron got excited, bucked and kicked out, full force into my knee. I fell off and got trampled by Molly. Ive never felt pain like it in my life. Could not move at all for ages (just under an hour). Luckily had my phone on me (and my fags

)so rang someone from the yard. Took them over an hour to find us. Jenny (mate riding my horse) said she had never heard me scream so loud.

They tried to help me up but as soon as I was up the pain was so bad I had to lie back down. I was hoping they could carry me to the car.

Anyway had to call ambulance, Jen came with me while 2 friends rode horses back and finished them off. Went to A&E had x-rays and luckily nothing broken. Just severe bruising. I cannot straighten or bend leg so friend had to take my jodhpurs off

Pain is still really bad today although im on strong painkillers. Hardly got any sleep last night as kept waking up in pain. Im on crutches and have to go back in a week. Foot had gone a lovely shade of purple aswell.

So I think thats the last time I ride mental ponies on a hack

Its the first time ive ever really hurt myself falling off, well besides once when I was about 12, and certainly the first time ive been taken to hospital.

Luckily no comps this weekend, but please send healing vibes so I can get back on board soon.

Here is the knee, which is much more swollen today

He kicked it where the graze is, im very lucky he missed the knee cap.

ouch! had a similar thing happen to me once, another horse kicked out at mine, caught me, broke my shin, but we were on the road at the time and my horse bolted into a car!

Didnt realise it was broken until i dismounted and fell on floor!

oouuccchhh that looks sore, that senerio is a worry of mine too as my girl likes to get in close to the horse we are riding out with and then gets grumpy about it

I hope it feels better soon, get some arnica down your neck and some cream on it, it should help

Its all bandaged up now so cant put anything on it

They gave me some strong painkillers though.

Its not that he gets gurmpy, he just gets excited when hes out doing fast work and probably didnt realise I was so close when he bucked. He never usually bucks when hes infront, just when hes behind and you are holding him back, but I think because jenny was pulling him up and Molly was trying to gallop past him he just got a bit excited.

He will be staying behind when cantering from now on!!

Poor you, I hope you manage to move easier soon. Take some Arnica, it brings the bruising out quicker and helps to heal you quicker. I can guarantee that, because I've had to use it several times

That sounds really scary!! You were lucky you didn't break anything. Will you manage ok on crutches? Let me know if you need any help!

I passed my stage 1 on Friday! So you have to get better so I can see you in the big scary stage 2 class!

It was scarey, I was lying in a pile of nettles for about an hour

I so wish I hadnt had his hind shoes put back on now, you could even see the nail imprits on my jodhpurs.

Oh thats brilliant, I should be ok as soon as the swelling goes down, I was looking forward to jumping Bruno on wednesday aswell

Rode him on flat the other day but havent jumped him before.

Friend is doing Baron over the weekend and Jenny who part loans him is doing him from monday so should be ok. Thanks for the offer to help though, much appreciated xx
