looking for grass or diy for 1 horse and 1 pony in Edinburgh or the west side, must be able to get to by bus or train.

if anyone knows anything please let me know

there is hardly any grass, they have ad lib hay pretty much but it is not the same, he gets really stressed when he sees a bucket, its not how he used to be.
as much as i love having my own yard i cant keep him like this so need to find somewhere

Try local farmers to see if any will let you have summer grazing. Or chuck carrots and other succulents around to keep them busy instead of getting bored with no grass. Pity you live so far away as I have too much grass in the summer.

tbh i have tried all that, hes just not happy there, its just him and my sec a and i think he misses the herd and all that goes with it

theres a few yards in west lothian near oatridge college quiet a few lol im at edinburgh equestrian centre at dalkeith fair enough there are rules but the owner is hardly ever at the grass livery yards unless she is chocing to move the horses fields its a good yard there is another one in whitecraig called cowpits

if dalkeith is too far so is redcoll but you dont want to be there over the winter as the owner is stingy with hay in the fields over the winter only 1 bale a week and its not on a bus route you would have a bit of walking have you tried pentland livery or oxenfoord in path head? pm me if u need some more im sure i can wrack my brains

swanston is full up and has a waiting list.

need to be diy or grass so pentland etc are no good, cant afford nearly £700 for livery for 2, im a poor student lol.

any help is appreciated

what about vogrie equestrian its expensive for grass livery only though £35 a week :S i'd be wanting a stable for that i pay just under that for a stable too

pretty hard to get to without a car and it would be pushing my limit at £70 per week as i would have feed etc on top of that for 2

No problem. They're nice people. I know their daughter from dressage competitions.

only got pony stables left, they said they have squashed horses in before but I'm not willing to do that, hes a big 16.2hh and hates small spaces anyway

Damn! That's a shame!

What about the McCluskeys, who are also in Roslin. Sorry, don't have their number, but they are the same people who make Rosslyn Horsehage - I'm pretty sure they do DIY / grass.

The list you originally gave for avoiding - I would still be avoiding them!

yup, me too lol

Hi,

What about Susan at Saltire Livery Yard?? I liveried there for a bit but I needed to have the boys live out most of the time and I only wanted them in when the weather got really rubbish and you can only have one or the other in winter. DIY, cheap-ish, nice stables etc...

I know from what you have said before about Morton Mains but i'm in a little block away from the main yard and the girls are lovely and we're all students so muck in together and the hacking lovely...plus very cheap and within the bypass...come, come, come
grin.gif
You can use your old stretch and flex's haha.
