Very sad day in my house, my old Shih Tzu had some kind of stroke late yesterday and lost the use of his left side. The light had gone out of his eye and so I felt it was finally "time". It was all very peaceful, the vet was very competent and whilst I am very sad, I am also extremely relieved it's over. I think he was on his way anyway, it just happened faster than nature taking its course over a day or so. On reflection I'm glad it happened on a Sunday, I got an emergency appointment at the vets, the waiting room was empty so no stress there, and we brought him home afterwards and he's now buried in the garden along with the other 3 shih tzu's I've lost over the years. Mogwai (not my choice of name, he was a rescue dog) was one day short of 16 3/4 (born 12.2.91) so had lived a long and until recently active life.

Rest in peace, my lovely little lad. You will be missed.

*hugs* so sorry to hear that

RIP Mogwai

So sorry to hear and I'm sure you're missing him terribly. But its lovely to hear of an animal who dies peacefully after such a long and happy life.

Thank you all for your kind comments. It means a lot to me. My young sprocker is also missing him terribly, but I know we will be fine. It's the coming home and expecting Mogs to be here, and then remembering that he isn't anymore that gets me going...

Thank you again.
