As some of you might recall i took on a 10 year old collie bitch last year when her elderly owner died.
She was fat, limped at the best of times and was stiff getting out of bed. I thought she was pretty ancient seeming....
So since then she has lost 8 kg in weight which totally stopped the limping and stiffness (shows how unhealthy being over weight is for dogs in all ways!)
She plays madly, will walk for hours, chases rabbits (not encouraged!) Has put the two young labs in their places and generally made herself at home!
Thinking i knew her pretty well I've just discovered she's terrified of thunder! Poor old things a nervous wreck and most definitely giving her evening walk a miss today :)

She sounds fab..

My dad took on a rescue collie a couple of months ago, and she is the sweetest thing apart from her propensity for chasing things.

I know when I was pregnant and 2st heavier my hips hurt constantly. It went away as soon as I lost the weight.

Nice to have an update, I remember you taking her on. You have done well. I have noticed that lots of collies seem to dislike thunder. I have flatcoats that don't seem to take any notice, but they are gun dogs!! However I had a collie cross rescue who used to sit in her bed and pant.

I had a rescue collie, he wasn't scared of thunder or of fireworks, but he used to stand by the patio window and growl constantly at the sky :) just keeping it in its place

Congratulations, glad to hear she coming on so well.
Our collie always needs company if there's thunder or fireworks, he gets so worried by them. Last time sis ended up sitting in his bed with him, which he'd moved under the kitchen table :D

My collie, at age 5 suddenly decided he didnt like thunder or guns. He has a Adaptil collar when I think theres going to be that kind of weather, and it fairly made a difference.
