Been out 'Dogging In' with my Mum and Dad. Beautiful weather and a well behaved pup :D

I had Otto on the long line so I could instill that he STOPS when he flushes a Pheasant, and by the end of the day I think it was starting to sink in! :D He isn't half switched on to them though, you can tell the blood of many generations of working dogs runs through his blood!
He also met his first hare (for wish I praised the lord he was on the long line) :D :D

He worked along the hedge rows so nicely, considering he was on the line, so couldn't get into the properly. Also managed to flush a couple of Phessies that my Dad's dog had missed :D :D

He's a clever boy my dog :D

Yay well done Otto, sounds like he is going to be a real star. Evie put up a hare the other week, my heart sank when I realised it wasn't a rabbit that was going to head for a burrow. Luckily the hare totally outran her and she gave up and came back to me fairly quickly, scary moment though.

I'm not sure what I was trying to say in brackets earlier, in my defence I am rather hungover! :D

He makes me wish we'd had him from a pup, his working instinct is just amazing, if we could just channel it properly he'd be an outstanding dog!

I'm also thinking of changing his name to Alice, he insisted on sticking his down every single rabbit hole, I think he spent too much time with terriers in his youth!

Glad Evie gave up, I have a feeling Otto wouldn't

Hmmm, losing the Long Line may take some time, and I will be a nervous wreck if we do!!!

Little rat bag has been wandering around looking mighty sorry for himself today, all tucked up with his tail between his legs. Asked the Font of Knowledge (Mother :D) and we think he's suffering from Cold Water Tail. I was mean and washed him with cold water last night as he'd got covered in muck :o obviously he was a lot colder than I thought! We had the fire on all evening too!

Otto clearly knows his job then! I know what you mean about keeping them on a long-line. I wouldn't have dared let Purdey off last Saturday, she just wants to get at those phezzies.
Well done you and Otto - will you take him beating this year?

Yup yup! :D Hopefully we are going out sometime in November. The shoot we go on (the one Otto is allowed to go to!) is on a Wednesday and my Weds are fully booked for a wee while, so having to wait. Giving us lots of time for training.. lol :D :D
