Nothing drastic to be done but it seems my pony's teeth were unbalanced and may be the reason for him being stiffer on one side as apparently this can affect the poll and some muscles too. I found this really interesting and never realised that teeth can have such a dramatic effect on the rest of the horse and his way of going. Another nice surprise was that he aged my pony to be about 3 years younger than I thought he was!

You'll see in many posts when someone has a problem with a horse not going well the first things that are mentioned are having teeth & back checked. If either of these aren't right there is a real effect on how the horse performs.

Once treatment is given you invariably find the horse goes so much better

I can confirm what you have said. My new horse had to have his teeth treated as poor chap had hooks on the back and front of his teeth so he was unable to move his jaw properly to eat his food as they were locked together, he also had a twisted pelvis, corrected now thanks to brill back lady. He is also putting on weight now he can eat properly! And a very happy chap!
