So today whilst I was in school we had the physio out to see Lacey. We had a little accident several weeks ago which ended up with her on her back and the quickest we could get the physio out was today (Helen was away on holiday and Lou was in East Anglia!)
Anyway, she asked to see Lacey move and within 4 strides she told mum to stop, she could see a quite considerable amount of muscle wastage over her left hind (Lou had said that if she was an old horse this would cause quite some trouble
) She then walked Lace a little bit more to show mum and mum says she could see it. She then had a feel over her and did all her physio stuff and said Lace had some sore points on her left shoulder and left hind. She then put the ultrasound on her and also some heating thing (you can tell I dont know much about physio).
So after the session we have a regime to walk her out for 3 days, then do some light schooling (working on the left side more than the right side) and then if shes feeling better after 2 weeks we can introduce some small fences (she hasnt jumped since the accident apart from once when she did xc which was mainly splashing through the water and watching fihunt and genie flying the jumps!
) Then Lou is coming out in three months to time to re-asses her. So it looks like any hopes of BE at the end of the season are out of the window, which may not be a bad thing, at least we can get things 110% at home before going out. After all a happy comfortable horse who is jumping 23 is much better than a slightly uncomfortable horse doing BE in my eyes.
On the positives the first thing Lou said to mum was are you going to event her, she looks like an eventer and then at the end of the assessment (my instructor watched with mum) agreed that if Lacey was jumping the way she was before the accident, with her muscle wastage she is going to be fantastic once weve got her all right.
Sorry for the essay, just hope she makes a speedy recovery.
Oh, and its sods law that we had a rc show on Saturday where we had entered dressage and she has been working fantastically in the school recently.
