The OH has just spent ages drying the dogs with the hair dryer. The hair dryer is ancient and conked out halfway. I'm worried it might catch fire (yes, paranoid!). Can anyone recommend a decent one with various heat settings? I'd like quite a quick one, IYSWIM, as Zak is not thrilled with being dried like this, bless him!

Budget?

Forget dog specific dryers ( mine cost >£500) and use a drum fan or box fan.

You need air movement rather than heat.

will probably be overkill but I can dry a Newfie with one in around an hour. ( This is in a room at comfortable temperature.) Smaller floor fans start at around £40.
Another option is carpet dryers which look like snails.

Get yourself a blaster.

Something like this one off ebay would do you a treat! Its forced air so it literally blasts the water off the coat along with tugs and twigs and things.

Although most of them are not heated, the air warms up just with the power of the motor so your dogs will end up virtually dry in no time at all :D. They are noisy but the dogs soon get used to it.

Blasters are great and I use one daily but it isn't something I'd use inside my home!

Ditto that. If you DO decide to use it at home, mind where you point it! You could end up removing all the pictures from the walls, the light fittings from the ceilings, giving the dog a fright...and FGS, don't ever drop the nozzle while it's ON! It's like trying to wrestle a lively snake!

I got one with 3 heat settings and most importantly a cool button, I use it on number 2 setting holding in the cool button works great, it was from Asda bout £15 can't remember what make, my springer used to hate the hair dryer but once she'd been to the groomers a few times now loves it, rolls over for each side and tummy and loves having her ears dried, she's so funny, I put a towel down and she sits, lays to be dried.

OH said 'How much for a flipping hairdryer?!' I like it, but I value my paintings!
