Hair extensions...?

Friend has them done - you can have synthectic or real hair and hers did look amazing. Hers were glued on so I can't say how much damage could be done - but I do remember it is very very expensive - she was paying around £1500.

Maybe think of buying a hair piece on ebay to play around with first?

I don't find they are a problem as long as you have a slightly larger helmet. Depends how thick/many extensions you have and what method you go for.

Done properly, they may feel strange and heavy for a day or so, but they shouldn't hurt.

When I had mine in (had the glue in extensions) I didn't have a problem, but I always tie my hair back around horses anyway.

Oh and as long as you take them out properly there should be no damage to your hair.

My hair is trashed through years of hair extension abuse! This is probably because I don't really look after my natural hair and lots of it has broken off and I just rip the hair extensions out when I want to change them. I definately agree with the bigger hat as well but you shouldn't be in any pain!

you need to be prepared to look after them and your own hair, and have a large disposable income to maintain them to look good. othrwise they end up looking cr..!

I would recommend clip in ones! Only take a few minutes to put in when you want them but you don't have to worry about the maintenance of them and the hassle when washing your hair etc

Clip ins are fab if you have 'normal' hair. If it's too thin you can see the clips, and if you have stupidly thick hair (like me ) it can look really fake and dodgy IME.

I'm very lucky in that respect..I buy the hair online and my friend (who is a hairdresser) puts them in for me. ;)

As my hair is so thick I reckon it would cost about £800 from a decent salon.

There are a few types and I'll give videos because I'm nice :D

Clip In's - Big no no. The clips are *usually* too big to feel comfortable in a hat.

Glue In Weft - I can vouch for these. I have a few friends who have them and they not only look super un-tacky, the actual weft is super tiny so little to no discomfort :D

Pre-bonds - ...NEVER go there. Even when done by a salon they hurt for the first few days, let alone putting a hat on it!

Micro Loop/Ring - Never done them, but they look really stressfull on the hair IMHO :/

There's a load more (personally, if I owned my own yard and never competed, I'd have my dreads back. But life goes on xD)
I'd get them done by a professional, I'd go for glue in wefts.
Alternitively, do them yourself by watching a butt load of tutorials on Youtube like I did :D

No idea re human hair extensions, but I did once know a lovely bay horse who had been on jim'll fix it, and had a tail made because he had hardly any tail hair... Bless him :D

I had the weaved ones, real human hair, had them in for about 2 years, maintenance every 6 weeks..looked amazing, tight at first but become comfortable after a few days, but yeh you probably need a slightly larger hat.. loved them but now just have clip ins..made by the same hairdresser hat did my weaved ones so still very natural looking & lessmaintenance.
