Agh! Having just wrote a thread for HHO to play up i will make this mega short...
Old horse is recovering from strangles- abcess almost healed, weight going on steadily as she lost quite abit of weight (but still a little slim for my liking at the moment) Recently wormed, appetite back in full swing, much happier horse.
Currently in a LW rug as i didnt want her to use any extra energy keeping warm- out 24/7 with adlib haylege.
Now.. she has patches of hair loss becoming apparent on her face, the skin where the hair has gone is flakey/white dead skin.. looks like bad dandruff. Shes not itchy and shes not lost hair anywhere else on her body aside from moulting like mad to get rid of her winter coat. There is some small remnants of rainscald marks on her ears where the hair has come off but her face is not rainscald, it was never scabby and the hair isnt coming off in scabs.
I cant see any lice/eggs- yet!
I thought maybe she is getting too warm so today took her rug off but in all my years of owning horses ive never had any lose patches of hair on one area like she is?
Fungal maybe?
Will call vet tomorrow anyway but wondered if anyone has experienced this before?
