Just wondering if anyone knows/had experience of a horse that’s had a hairline crack in its rear pastern?

Ex racehorse that last year obtained a hairline crack, it got pinned and have a very high class of aftercare from the onsite vet (swimming pool, vibrating plates etc) and after 6 months of therapy, returned to racing … horse is 100% fine and the vet has advised the horse is good for showing, dressage, WH and show jumping but not XC on hard ground/hunting … he did say they usually get arthritis in later years but as it’s in her rear there’s a lesser chance.

Anyone else had experience of this? x

My horse fracture a front pastern a year ago and had surgery to pin it back together. My vet told me she would come back to 100% work load including hunting/X country. He said a bad tendon injury would actually be worse in terms of future work. She is sound and I have been back onboard for nearly 6months you really wouldnt know anything has happened to her.

Is this a horse you are looking at buying?
You have to think about how you will feel riding it though. I always have that break in the back of my mind when riding my mare.

She already with us :D

This happened over a year ago and shes actually raced since on it ... we're only in the process of rebacking her so only doing baby workouts at the moment so no big deal but just wondered about future work really - if she can do everything greatbut if not, thats also great we'll just perhaps stick to flat work and the odd jump :)
