Hairnet alternatives? A slightly daft question...

I have resorted to always riding in a hairnet, to stop my wayward hair escaping around and through the straps at the side and making me look deranged. I have a bob type haircut and hair is not long enough to tie back, annoyingly.

Hat is snug as you like, doesn't move when I shake my head, and was professionally fitted in May.

Any suggestions for a hairnet alternative that I haven't thought of?! I'm feeling a bit old before my time currently 😁

A buff?

Or just embrace the hairnet, I used to always wear one when I was younger as anything else with my very long and very thick hair seemed to upset the way my hat sat.

I love a hairnet, looks so smart, I hate to see hair flapping about at competitions and hunts.

A buff is a great idea, thanks!

I do agree that hairnets look smart, I just feel a little foolish bumbling around the forest wearing one, like some aged battleaxe 😁

I have long hair and ride with it looking deranged. Long hair plaited but always untidy at the sides.
I posess a hair net (orders of a previous RI) but my hat felt less secure when worn over a net so I never hacked in it. If that is what Kat is saying too.
A fixative hair spray like elnett will glue the whispy bits back before putting on your hat. Clean hair is even whispier so I ride untidy like a pony book child or a witch, please. Never a battle axe.

Love buff or hygge bands, although they do alter the fit of your hat, but make a bob work around horses and sport.

I employ an army of kirby grips with the hat, which unfortunately won't make you feel any less old but do tuck the hair away and avoids that hair sticking out around my ears/through straps that makes me look crazy.

No I was saying a ponytail or plait altered the fit of my hat and a hairnet was better. It lifted the hat at the back meaning it either sat too high or tipped forward. I used to have a really strong net with good elastic and just shoved all my hair inside with no bands or grips.

I don't have the problem anymore, different hat design and hair that is less thick now I'm older.

Please don't use kirby grips, they can be very dangerous in a fall. Use soft hair ties or a net nothing metal.

Thank you all so much for your replies! I am relieved and rather surprised to find that I am not alone in having wayward hair and being a regular hairnet wearer. I will embrace my inner pony book child (love that!) but also try out a buff. Not sure I can carry off a headscarf, but willing to give it a go 😁
